Saburomaru (Toyama)
Saburomaru Junenmyo Rouge is a Japanese blended whisky from the renowned Wakatsuru Saburomaru Distillery, nestled in the mountains of Toyama. With a history dating back to 1862, the distillery first produced sake and shochu before venturing into whisky in 1952. Known for their experiments and the marriage of Japanese precision with Scottish tradition, they are among the few distilleries in Japan to produce their own malt, peated with local turf. What sets this whisky apart is its maturation: after an initial ageing period, it is finished in red wine casks. This finish adds layers of complexity, where smoke weaves seamlessly with notes of ripe berries, plums, and a hint of spiced vanilla. The long, warming finish allows the fruitiness of the wine casks to return in a subtle yet refined way, making this a distinctive dram for lovers of characterful Japanese whisky.

Saburomaru (Toyama)
Saburomaru Ⅳ The Emperor Cask Strength is a bold, limited-edition release from the Saburomaru Distillery in Toyama, Japan. Bottled at full strength (60%) without chill filtration or added colouring, this whisky was distilled in 2020 and bottled in 2024. Crafted from heavily peated Highland malt (50 PPM) and matured in bourbon casks, it undergoes fermentation in traditional wooden mash tuns, lending fruity, lactic notes alongside intense smoke, charcoal, citrus, spice, and sweet malt.
Only 1,900 bottles produced – powerful, smoke-forward, characterful, and highly collectible.
